Further add-on to excellent responses: The dvd-a ripper hack to windvd can be found on bittorrent sites (searching for mlp dvd will probably find it). It works for me, but there are basically no DVD-As out there. It is a Windows program; I have no idea if it can run on a Mac, even if you have Windows running on that Mac.
I have heard of people managing to rip SACDs, but this is via substantial hardware changes to expensive SACD players. Seems a bit OTT to me. You also might be able to get digital out of a dcS SACD player, but many people seem to find these a tad unaffordable. Even when you get digital out you have a lot to do to get it to your Squeezebox.
