Sounds a bit counter intuitive.  If there is no break-in then there
shouldn't be a "useful life" if proper care and maintenance is
maintained, no?  What burns out or gives up the ghost in a transport
that couldn't change with time, if that time were considered break-in
time?

My thread opener was actually tongue-in-cheek.
