The good sound cards are typically sold for recording studio work, or at 
least high end amateurs doing recordings.

They are often about as expensive as a SqueezeBox. It makes a lot of 
sense, it takes quality engineering to get it to sound good, its not 
about the parts.

And neither SqueezeBoxes or pro-audio cards are mass market items, which 
is what is needed to get the cost of the engineering spread to millions 
of units so the costs can be low.
