One other interesting design quality of the Vandy's is that they are
engineered specifically for true bi-wire configuration.

Richards comments concerning this -
http://www.vandersteen.com/pages/Answr7.htm

When I received the speakers I tried both configs' (bi-wire,single
wire)

The speaker cable I use for bi-wire are 2 pair Guerilla 4' silver
push-pull with rhodium spades.
For single wire it was 1 pair of the 4' Guerilla with 2" jumpers
constructed of the same wire/spade.
To be honest...(let me duck for cover here) the bi-wire config brought
the speakers to the level I enjoy now.
Single wire config (w/jumper) was um... less 3 dimensional, less
musical...sort of closed.

No dbt..too difficult to achieve efficiently, I suppose.
Although the difference was apparent enough.

As I am fairly new to this level of home audio, feel free to take my
comments with a grain of salt.

ok, go easy on this neophyte.

Bottoms up!
