Generally "foam" won't help with domestic rooms (apart from some exceptional circumstances). Take a look at something like this: http://www.customaudiodesigns.co.uk/basstraps/basstrap.htm
If you have lots of glass areas in your den, You can try and tame them with "foam"...but it may not work. Try moving stuff first For example, a glass-topped coffee table between you and the speakers is a bad idea - unless it is covered in books. Bookshelves (with books on them!) make good diffusers. Carpets/rugs are good on wooden or tiled floors. Lined curtains in front of windows (especially full lenght windows or glass doors) are good. One thing worth doing is checking for things that rattle along with the music (eg ornaments) - you won't normally hear them unless you use a swept tone (get a copy of Soundcheck or similar).
