Apparently Toslink does in fact introduce jitter. I have this from at least two audio engineers that have no reason to mislead me on this. However, if you reclock to bring the jitter down to minimal levels (as I do with a Big Ben)you can then take advantage of the fact that Toslink isolates the processor from upstream noise.
