There would be two ways to do this: - Linn develop software to make their Klimax DS (and any other models to follow) emulate a Squeezebox - effectively adopting SlimDevices proprietary (though fairly open-source) standard. This would probably cause ongoing support headaches for Linn. - Somebody builds a UPnP/DLNA converter, allowing Slimserver to recognise and control any UPnP/DLNA media player - whether Linn, Roku or whatever. The second would be a more elegant solution, but it might not help Slim sell more Squeezeboxes if better Players come onto the market. wdaher;237463 Wrote: > Heck, I'd have a go at it myself if I could get the internal Linn > development guides (fat chance). You're missing the point - Linn have adopted UPnP - a completely open standard. So everything needed to do this is in the public domain. wdaher;237463 Wrote: > Unless I win the lottery I'll be sticking with my transporter (sound is > excellent). Have you enterred the competition to win a Klimax system? wdaher;237463 Wrote: > I suppose if I was really into it I could write a remote control program > for a PDA that will display all the relevant details like the Linn does > but that sounds like a lot of work for little gain. Presume you're familiar with Telcanto (does everything you would need) and the forthcoming Jive stuff from SlimDevices? -- netim3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ netim3's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=219 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=38815 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
