I used to get 'pops' between tracks (apple lossless) ONLY when connected optically to my ROTEL Pre/Pro. The CO-AX connection thru the ADCOM DAC was silent between tracks. Since the ADCOM DAC was better anyways, that's the way it stayed.
I tried briefly the optical into a Musical Fidelity X-DAC, and had NO pops between tracks, so I suspect it's a combo-problem with your DAC, and other DAC's and the optical out on the squeezebox. Yeah, no help - but another data point. Cheers!
