The problem, really, is with Slim. I've had this happen with a Squeeze Box before (this is my 2nd one). In fact, the unit has been working mostly just fine until I had to do a factory reset recently (and the xilinx chip as a follow-up to that). Factory reset due to network reconfiguration issues.
Anyway, I have heard pops and clean sound between the SAME tracks on the SAME album. This is not a problem with ripping. This is not a problem with my system. Also, just for yucks, I have an Airport Express hooked up optically to my TacT amp. I don't mind hanging out with a 13" MacBook and sometimes really prefer searching on it. Anyway, I did a test: Beth Orton, SB3, pops; same album, AE, no pops. I called customer service and they just blamed the problem on anything other than their unit. The responder was polite about it...but that's about it. Now, given that other people have the same issue...
