Well, I think you answered part of your question.. "several hours" I would assume that yes it is kept "warmed up" when the device is in standby mode. Sean is a perfectionist. I wouldn't assume that during the warmup time the clock crystal is wildly causing jitter.. it is probably easily measurable, but probably not audible.
