I agree with you as I have the same issue . Anyway I think Squeezebox is a great product considering the price but has nothing to do with "audiophile/hi-fi/hi-end quality" . With my external DAC ( Threshold DAC 1/e ) sound dramaticaly improves but cannot compete with a CD-TRANSPORT + DAC . I hope that the Transporter sounds at least twice better .
