Irrespectie of the sound sthrough your current setup, I think you'd be better off investing into a file format that is utterly non-lossy for your favorite recordings if they are truly good recordings. I think for most commercial music 256k MP3 is plenty and will be above the intended reproduction quality. I make the call based on (a) how much of a favorite it is to me and (b) how blatantly commercial the recording is. These days, I download most of the blatant commercial stuuf as 128k files from Itunes. Opinions are divided on the best long term storage strategy. I tend to burn thinga to a CD on ITunes and then rip it at 160k MP3 CBR. Only for very commercial stuff. My favorite music (last CD purchase was Stanley Clarke's "the Toys of Men") I rip as FLAC. -- pablolie ------------------------------------------------------------------------ pablolie's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42652 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
