1. 32bit AKM dacs, perhaps 4-6/channel if it makes a positive difference. Going 32bit all the way internally shouldn't be that hard either. Transporter 32 sounds nice 8-)
2. Attenuators for XLR outputs for those who use it as a preamp. 3. I would spend some time on voicing the analog output section. Imo it could use a bit of improvement in microdynamics, it is something that conveys emotion and keeps listener interested. Perhaps (1) would address it by default. 3. Smart knob is nice but who really uses it? The only time it is handy is when the remote is lost or battery is dead. LCD touchpanel instead? 4. Any benefit to move to gigabit ethernet? Everything makes some difference so I would at least try it just for giggles. 5. Keep the price to a similar level as the original (or lower). Sub $2K is what most audiophiles can bear and if the product is good (this one is !) they will buy another one in a future.
