Actually, I don't think he's asking for 6 channels to implement a
digital crossover.  He seems to be talking about surround sound.  While
most music is recorded in stereo, there's an ever expanding library of
(most) 5.1 surround mixes.  Many of these are inaccesable (in the
digital domain, anyway) to the Transporter because they've been
released on SACD or DRM'ed DVD-A, however there are a small number of
surround DVD-A mixes released by audiophile labels such as AIX and
Classic, which might be possible to extract to the hard drive totally
in the digital domain.  FLAC, WMA, et al support multi-channel, and
Music Giants offers 5.1 downloads (although I'm not so sure how
pristine is the lineage of their HiRes files).
