I have experimented with different fuses at one time and found that they indeed make a difference. I never went for the "Hi-End" ones but tried various types and sizes from RadioShack.
The ceramic fuses seemed to have more body and bass, glass ones were faster particularly the fast-blow types but they can also be lean at the bottom. Replacing the slow-blo types with oversized fast-blow seemed to improve the dynamics. The differences in sound are not subtle, it is almost like changing interconnects. I am not surprised to hear that it would be one of the least expensive but audible mods. Certainly any changes to fuze types and size violate manufacturers design and anyone who is doing it needs to understand possible ramifications.
