And folks never misread postings? Never skip the early parts of a thread?

Even on Mythbusters, they always say "do not try this at home" about 
five times a show.

Insanely dangerous. IANAL, and I sure am Not a Brit Lawyer.
In the US its against the National Electrical Code, which has the rule 
of law by inference nearly everywhere.

Of course, the US has many silly laws. Its illegal to talk about how to 
remove DRM from music.

Back to the topic, when folks have a two inch diameter "audiophile" 
mains cord from the wall to their gear, have they ever thought about the 
18 gauge fuse/circuit breaker that is also in series with all this?

I actually ran (or more properly, hired a licensed Electrician to run) a 
dedicated 20A circuit just for my stereo. But is just 12 Gauge wire.
