Cool, I found it - can't believe I missed it. So I fiddled with the settings. I disabled native flac support and set flac to convert to wav on squeezecenter - I still get some cracks occasionally. I notice that the cracks become more frequent as I turn on the brightness. It's most when brightness is set to max and squeezecenter is using native flac support. Any other suggestions?
