I also got my DEQ2496 used for $200. I'm using it as a DAC with my SB3 as well as performing the digital EQ. It is doing a very good job at both functions. I like to leave my computer shut off when listening to Pandora, last.fm, internet radio, etc so the dedicated hardware is a better solution for me.
