No wonder I was having trouble! Perhaps I have the wrong version of SqueezeCenter 7 because this option doesn't exist on my list of settings under Settings | Player | Audio. I have 14 heading options there, and none of them is "Effects Loop." I'll try updating to the latest version and see if it appears.
