I'm not sure what your point is but yes a lot of people don't know what they are doing with their equipment but that doesn't mean that the equipment can't do certain things. In certain modes the receiver can dictate what range the sub has but in a direct mode it relies on the sub itself to provide the cutoff. The lf is not dictated by the receiver but by the sub. In a full direct mode then the sub is not used. This is to cut off any unnecessary circuits that might cause noise of any form. BTW what is HT? Is that the same a AV Receiver? Also why would your equipment choose coaxial? I use the same but I'm not sure why as my machine never told me. :)
