Your explanation sounds much more plausible though, I just noticed it on tracks that were very dynamic, with quiet passages and then sudden loud parts, so assumed it might be some volume adjustment issue, especially since lowing the volume made it go away. I must admit I haven't tried it again recently and I'm using a Duet now, not the SB2.
