I use a monster also but I have seen improvements but not in sound.  I
like to think I have but I realize that probably not.  But in video I
lost all pixalation (I have no idea how to spell this)I was having on
my plasma once I plugged into this.  The breakdown into little boxes. 
It really made a difference in my picture quality and maybe a bit in
sound. The main reason was protection so I also think I have that.  I
also like a common place to plug in everything with filters that apply.
