Hi everyone a friend has managed to put the pulse transformer mod (http://au.farnell.com/1087809/electrical/product.us0?sku=MURATA-POWER-SOLUTIONS-76601-3C&_requestid=196962)into an inline adapter for the SB3. Costs about A$60 to make up. It works a treat - clearly audible improvement with an external DAC (I run a Lavry DA10). Much better $ spend than an external psu (with ABX testing neither of us could pick a linear psu, whereas we always got the adapter). Here is the prototype and finished item:
