I agree - I would not rip to 48k for my master CD image. I want the same data as on the disc.
Max sounds interesting. My preference for dBpoweramp came from the Accurate Rip feature which is very reassuring for mainstream disks. If iTunes supported FLAC I would probably stick to iTunes as I have got used to it and like the way it manages folders and tags.
