Most sound engineers?
Almost all would argue that digital is far more convenient, practical
and economical, but in regards to sound, I really disagree with your
comment, in fact, I think is a fabrication of your "know it all
attitude". In recording, vinyl has a cult status, and its seen as
superior format of music reproduction. However, very few can achieve
superior reproduction of vinyl, since a lot of care and patience is
needed for this. Very different from handling cd's, pressing an open
button and dropping it in the tray....
Red Book compact discs have this advantage, and when you balance it,
the sound of cd's is not that bad.
Besides, recording studios have hundreds of thousand, if not, million
euros invested in digital equipment. Since the early 80's almost
everyone trusted digital blindly. Its a matter of market (capitalism)
over format, economy over format, convenience over format, but for
shure not music over format.

Most consumers?
Any regular consumer would buy what sells in your average consumer
electronics store. The consumer's will is limited by decisions taken at
Sony, Philips or Samsung. In the early 80's the reality was simple: CD's
cost much less to manufacture! therefore they are faster to produce,
easier to distribute and had the novelty to be able to attract
consumers into the "future", plus they sounded OK, for sure better than
cassettes, and almost as DAT's, not to mention the manufacturing of the
players. For a regular consumer it was simple. Most of them never heard
vinyl reproduced in a high quality system; Cd's were marketed fiercely
and vinyl vanished, it was just to delicate, difficult and
complicated.

Researchers in acoustics?
There we go again... THIS IS NOT ABOUT PSEUDO SCIENCE OR SCIENCE,
MEASURABLE ACCURACIES, AND CONTROLLED LAB EXPERIMENTS, ULTIMATELY, IT
IS ABOUT THE REPRODUCTION OF MUSICAL EMOTION, FEELINGS, WONDER, ITS
ABOUT MUSIC!!!!!! AND THIS AREA IS WHERE GOOD QUALITY VINYL PLAYBACK IS
STILL THE KING AND WHERE AUDIOPHILES KNOW MUCH BETTER THAN YOUR
"ACOUSTIC RESEARCHERS." I THERE ANYONE TO LISTEN TO WELL PLAYED VINYL
AGAIN OR FOR THE FIRST TIME, YOU WILL BE SPEECHLESS!

Opaque, you are part of a crowd of pseudo scientists or a scientists,
or a want to be scientists, and these are the ones I trust the less for
anything related to art, they are actually the worst!
