Additional information (regarding my immediately previous post): I've been looking to various dacs these days, I'm not trying to replace my own dac (that I find ok for the price I've paid - used), I was just trying to keep up with market's new models and tendencies, especially on the mid-high price tag. So, I went to have a look at the dacs that I like: Bel Canto, PS Audio, and so on. I found out that:
Bel Canto says that with the DAC3 "Your music communicates as never before, recalling the best of analog music reproduction". PS Audio state about their brand new Ultralink DAC that "After a day of break in, the sound was magical. Analog was the best way to describe it. It simply never sounded like a CD was being played.". A coincidence ? In fact, I wouldn't have been amazed to read such comparisons in a hi-fi review. But I'm amazed that middle-priced dacs advertise themselves as "analog sounding". Their marketing dept obviously decided that their actual quality has reached time-to-market towards high-end (analog) customers. But I could be wrong (don' sue me, though).
