the whole unit.  Most chips in the under $800 category are about the
same price range as the sb3.  In receivers you have to go above the
$1300 mark to the $1500 mark to maybe beat it.   Most dac chips run
between 10 and 50 bucks of the less expensive units (less than 1500). 
It is what you do with it that matters as far as I can tell. I think
that they have done a good job with the dac on the SB3.
