I don't believe I've written that I thought that would be tapes/elder
recordings with significant signal over 20kHz. I have just said that
what the current standard in studios are. I am just afraid if record
companies begin to sell music at higher bitrates than 96kHz instead of
96kHz, then I would have to downsample it to 96kHz which I wouldn't
like (samplerate conversion is bad in my world and I would prefer to
play the file at its native rate) despite that the transporter have a
D/A capable of 192kHz(but seems to be limitid by the clock in the
transporter)

My father has a studer A820. It is measured to 20hz-33khz +/- 1db. You
have just taken the original specs not taking into account that you can
actually get better(more modern tapes today - or you could a short time
ago). So if calibrated for these tapes you can get better specs, and
then there is the fact that studer7revox is quite conservative with
their specs

I can only agree in this. It is a shame that we know can get good
quality, but few uses the possibility

Actually I am still quite hooked on the transporter. So I will borrow
one over the weekend and compare it with files of different quality and
against my SB3(which I always thought was missing a little "air" in the
top comparing to my cd player)
