Actually I find in-ear phones uncomfortable too, even though they do sound great. Yes, the impedance varies as a function of frequency, but perhaps the bigger issue is that the PX100 don't really seal against the ear, so even though the driver may have sufficient bass response, it isn't going to reach the eardrum anyway. Of course that will make any difference in bass output from the source less detectable. Maybe try again while pushing them against your head a little?
