I am with you, I posted the images to show what a respected measurement guy gets. This is not the whole story. Ears still seem best. People for decades have looked at measurements - some definitely indicate weaknesses that will be heard, but you still seem to get different perceptions of music from devices, where it seems difficult to identify the cause from measurement.
In the god old days of moving coil cartridges many measured very well in the frequency response, but the difference in sound was very dramatic. As I said in the reply to Patrick, I think its all about musical transients.
