Being a late-to-the-table Zep fan, I can't speak for the first issues of
the material, but I do have Mothership and it does sound fantastic. But
let's bear in mind;

"The music on this Compact Disc was originally recorded on analog
equipment. We have attempted to preserve, as closely as possible, the
sound of the original recording. Because of its high resolution,
however, the Compact Disc can reveal limitations of the source tape."

On certain tracks, those limitations are very obvious. But that is not
the fault of the remaster, which is very kickable. It is more likely
the original recording or master tapes (see also Layla by Derek & the
Dominos).
