My setup now is - Marantz out to a HSU powered sub and two BW's. A few questions about DAC's and the squeezbox line.
Im thinking about either the classic or the receiver by itself. The problem with the receiver alone is that there is no IR port to work with my Harmony. The Harmony does work with the MacBook Pro, but then the comp has to be on. Also, is the DAC on the classic that much better? I could go external. People report good things about the dacmagic but (assuming I get this vortexbox) what service would the squeezbox even serve? Also also, my Marantz is about 10 years old but cost money back then. Can I assume the DAC is shit? Instead of an entire new external DAC, can I rip the stock one out of the receiver (or classic) and put a new one in myself? Will I run into all sorts of power issues, etc.? Lastly, can I control the receiver with an iPod touch instead of this remote, which I despise. While I'm ranting. I was thinking that I would get a 7.1 setup for the occasional movie viewing.
