I think I always had kind of an idea of what type of speakers I wanted (bi-polar) and so I bought a pre-amp and amp first. Actually, it all started with a CD player I had heard on a much better system than mine. >From there I bought the preap and power amp and then speakers. I haven't regretted a single piece of it yet and it's been a long time. Thanks for your input.
