A friend of mine developed this product basically. He took a very low power fanless PC with a good cdrom drive, added a front panel LCD and some buttons. The box would rip the files and play them back when you pressed the play button. It would cache the ripped files so that if you put the same CD back in it would just read the TOC and play back the cached files. I'm not sure how he handled CD TOC dupes. He never got around to getting someone to turn it into a real product.
