I share your view. :) I returned a DacMagic, though I liked the nice
build quality and gadget-like looks. Being a gadget-lover, I'd love to
have kept it - but I just couldn't make myself do it after listening
tests. I put it on the digital output of my Duet receiver, and switching
directly on my amp between the two made a difference - definately...
But... :) I realized the output level was a bit higher on the DacMagic,
turning the volume knob a bit when switching made the two units sound
identical.

I believe the Duet receiver already has a very nice DAC, spending
$10,000 might perhaps give you a slightly better sound - but c'mon, be
realistic, the differences are minimal.
