I have a Yamaha Receiver (RX-Z9) and a Transporter in one system and a McIntosh Receiver and a Squeezebox Classic on the other system. I am running signal through Vienna Accoustic Beethovens and McIntosh XR 5 speakers, respectively.
Prior to buying the Transporter, the Classic was on the other system. I have been very impressed by the improvements brought by the Transporter and, in the past, toyed with the idea of getting a second Transporter. I have tended to abide by the general concept that the addition of "boxes" and their respective inter-connects has at least some negative off-set in the benefits they provide. The Transporter's DAC is fabulous -- I am often surprised at the clarity of sound, especially in re-mastered source material (in general, Rhino has done some incredible work). I have often wondered what an external pre-amp or an external DAC would add to this and have come to feel very satisfied with my system (even though I know there are better ones!). Although I recommend the Transporter, I hope that whatever configuration you select brings you the satisfaction I feel with what I have. -- Storm ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Storm's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17967 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=66754 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
