I wish I could use Transporter with external DAC and find out if problem is only limited to your equipment.
Did you switch Transporter off during your listening period with external DAC? It may be that there is some kind of signal disturbance in your system and that makes Transporter go south. Definitely something triggers TR to switch to other output. I'm not sure but since TR switches only to S/PDIF, having also optical and BNC, that may be default setting.
