Thanks John. Unfortunately my main PC broke down on Dec 25th (!) and I am awaiting parts. I can't resume testing till that machine is up and working again. I managed to press an old laptop into service in about 15 minutes as a replacement Server (thanks heavens for external USB drives!) but obviously I have no suitable sound card in there... regards Phil PS it would be really interesting to see if you could actually measure the noise spectrum of the DAC output when streaming PCM vs FLAC and also with FLAC level zero versus max compression. -- Phil Leigh You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...
