Well you have to set up the DEQ , and what I would suggest is to use it
close to you , there is a small display that is unreadable from far and
getting up to change settings is a mission. If you are only cutting ,
you can keep the overall level unchanged , if you are boosting , you
need to reduce overall levels (gain) on the DEQ by about 6 db.
Use the parametric function and tune it "by ear" to your taste. You can
save presets. The manual of the DEQ is on the net at the behringer site
- its relatively useless. I found setting the signal as a straight 24
bit sounded best - as opposed to other resolutions etc and I didnt use
any dither.
I tried good toslink and a very good AES/EBU cable with it , made no
difference to the sound. The DEQ is not "transparent" and does add a
slight veil to the sound , however if you have a low bass problem and
can correct it with the DEQ , the slight veiling pales in comparison to
the better sound.
You can use the other functions of the DEQ in line with the parametric,
IE you can use the parametric and lets say the graphic together.
I never tried the DEQ's dac so cant comment on it.
