I have to agree. And many people have home WIFI networks setup by either a service (geeksquad) or a friend of a friend, and have no clue about how it works. I have a friend that wanted to show me her new, unlimited music system that is "somehow coming over the internet connected to her speakers". So when visiting I noticed a SB controller and said, "oh, you got a squeezebox." She didn't know what I was talking about. In her kitchen/den renovation, the contractor said, "do you want music?". She said yes, and he said, "I've got a guy that will set up a music system." Bottom line, the installer put a very small amp (the sort designed to be hidden without manual interface) on top of one of her kitchen cabinets where it can't be seen, put a duet receiver next to it, connected it all to her wireless network, and ran wires through wall/ceiling to a set of speakers in the kitchen and the den. Then he set her up on pandora with a few different genre radio stations. But she didn't know about any of this. She just knew that on this handheld controller she could choose a few different "stations", see the album art, artist, track title, and adjust the volume up or down. Oh, and he said, if there is ever any issue, simply take the battery out of the controller and then put it back in. Once or twice over the last year she's had to do this. But otherwise it has been rock solid for her! And she loves the system. Out of sight, sounds pretty good, and easy to use. p.s. Of course I had to show her how to create many more customized pandora stations, add favorites such as "radio paradise", WWOZ, TSF JAZZ, WDVX, and other stations that I knew she'd enjoy. And I've suggested she add a TOUCH to the stereo in her living room in the near future..... A single SqueezeBox is a lonely SqueezeBox... -- garym ------------------------------------------------------------------------ garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80282 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
