Thank you - this is quite helpful.
I have been pondering doing the Touch/DAC versus Transporter for a while now. I have all manner of i* devices, so the Touch screen and remote are of little consequence to me. I've had it in mind to go Duet > DacMagic to make use of the superior DAC and balanced outputs on the Cambridge. I have since relocated my stereo to a dedicated listening room, and need to invest in another squeeze* for a source. The Transporter was at the top of my list, but having researched the capabilities of the Touch as a 24/96 transport, the ability to swap a DAC of my choosing in at some other point is quite compelling. In the meantime, for $300 I will have, according to the overwhelming consensus that I have read here, the equivalent of a duet going to a mid-range DAC, save the balanced outputs. Plus my current receiver can go back into the home office while the Touch lives in the listening room. This stuff is just so cool. :) -- whoosh *Server*: Ubuntu 8.04 Server on Intel 1.66GHz Core Duo Mac Mini, 1GB RAM, 72GB internal for OS, 750GB Maxtor One Touch Firewire for media.
