The presence/absence of discernible differences between various components/formats etc. is an interesting debate. A similar debate rages on in the video circles. There are 'experts' who claim that any and all perceived differences in the picture clarity between blu ray (a high definition format) and DVD (a mid definition format) are based merely on the expectation bias. Same argument goes for the perceived differences between 720p screen resolution and 1080p screen resolution. Apparently, tests reveal that people are incapable of identifying if the video playing before their eyes is on blu ray or on DVD, or if it's at 720p or at 1080p resolution. Each camp will always have its advocates. The main point, however, is to work on one's own self-esteem. The only reason any person ever purchases a component such as a CD player or a digital streaming player (Duet, Touch, Transporter, etc.) is to enhance the enjoyment of listening to music. If the component you've purchased doesn't do that, it's worthless, regardless of how many rave reviews it had garnered. You should therefore promptly return it and get a refund. And conversely, if the component you've purchased is giving you enhanced pleasure from listening to music, then it was a worthwhile acquisition for you, regardless of how many 'experts' claim that it's not really capable of making any noticeable difference. If, however, you suffer from low self-esteem, you'll be at the mercy of the winds of propaganda. In which case, we all feel sorry for you:( -- magiccarpetride ------------------------------------------------------------------------ magiccarpetride's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37863 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84903 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
