What isn't subjective is the definition of a transparent and accurate
DAC. Assuming the ADC is transparent and accurate (and studios do
prefer equipment that is) a transparent DAC will reproduce the
electrical signal that went into the ADC as closely as possible. It
won't add any flavour. This may sound unmusical or uninvolving to some
ears, which is where taste comes in.

Personally, I like transparent for long term listening but I say live
and let live.
