Sorry, I don't have an answer to your question -- and I doubt that an
answer can be stated with any precision. As you point out, what sounds
"better than a good digital input" is indeed a matter of personal
preference. Hence, any price point will depend on your perceptions of
"good sound."

However, I would suggest that in addition to the turntable/cartridge
combination, you would need to factor in a phono preamp. The latter
will make a significant difference in terms of sound quality.
