With output-stage i meant you talk about some dedicated hardware. And yes, these days a simple OP amp may drive anything most likely better as many weird high-end designs. No need for a pre-amp in my opinion cause even the best one only can color the sound. @ob_kook There are already several interesting threads and some people even use passive attenuators for their Transporter.
