It can depend a bit on the power amps design, just try . On some amps
it's no difference and some are better and some are actually worse ? I
had a Rotel for a short while where the XLR simply used some cheap IC
that in turn feed the normal unbalanced input ,so it was just extra
circuits for nothing, in this case you would only have benefited if you
actually have the problem xlr solves , picking up noice etc over long
runs of cable. The usual 0,5 to 1m used in a hifi is not a problem, or
a preamp that really only sound good in balanced.
