Unfortunately (unlike many instruments) cars don't age gracefully! 
And  - aside from the sublime styling of the E-type or Mark II - I'd
MUCH rather drive my '98 XJR than anything they knocked out in the
60's, 70's, 80's or indeed most of the 90's. As driving machines they
just don't compare :-)
