No. There are many weak points with SPDIF. It is fundamentally flawed. It was designed as a cheap consumer mass market connection. It works fairly well at that. It was never designed for high accuracy in either a studio or audiophile world. And its never going to meet the needs of either a recording studio or a serious audiophile.
