I see where you are coming from, the Audio Note DAC is great and you
want to feed it with the best quality source possible. For that reason
- I see strong merit in the idea of using a V-Link which in effect
would be the new clock source and spdif source for the Audio Note -
plus it does not have any other overheads that many are using the
software mods for to quieten down. 

If you are concerned about getting good power to the V-Link (or V-Dac
for that matter) I understand that the V-PSU is an upgrade to both. I
think it's quite versatile to have a single PSU that can accommodate up
to three of the V-Series from MF.

There are other alternatives to the V-Link however - and one which
springs to my mind is the Halide Bride.

You can always try then compare against your modded SBT. If you like
the DAC - keep it - and yes, try to improve the source using the
thinking you are adopting now.
