Well, I will try to do what you ask me... The differences can be easily heard, but that does not mean that the sound is suddenly completely different. The main characteristics of my system stayed, only the details have changed a lot. In my system and (more important) in my opinion the sound that I now get is very satisfying. Hence, the DAC was worth the investment. I leave it to you to decide if for you a DAC is worth the money or not. If you do not like the main characteristics of your system new speakers might be a better choice. Though once you have them, you might still want the details ;-)
To get an impression of what the differences are imagine some classical music. Using the Touch analog would give me a very narrow sound stage and all instruments mixed up. Violins would be pretty harsh and dominate sound experience. Voices would be covered by other sounds. Bass would be boomy. Now with the Moon 100D I get sound stage, the instruments are placed correctly, violins sound like violins and voices like voices, bass is precise. In Geneva there are in general not many possibilities to listen to music equipment and getting a DAC is especially hard. Since I had not much time too, I exclusively based my decision on reading reviews, forum discussions, opinions... And in the end I ordered via Internet. Certainly not the best approach, but the best I could make out of the situation. I hope this helps Frank -- frank_from_hh ------------------------------------------------------------------------ frank_from_hh's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=25866 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84783 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
